In May of 2006 a group of friends approached CEO J. Michael Pinson to form a non-profit 501 (3)(c) foundation to expand the groups' local charity efforts. In result, Pinson Communications formed the “Pinson Gang” and the Pinson Foundation came to life.
Pinson Communications, it's vendors and friends now directly fund the foundation. The foundation board decides how to allocate funds each year.
You may access the Pinson Foundation web site for scheduled charity events and to make donations online.
The Pinson Foundation, including it's board of directors is managed by corporate volunteers. Our expenses are tightly managed, so that the charities and the people in need receive the highest possible financial support from us collectively.
Our first official event was on June 24, 2006 which raised over $11,000 from a private Summer Mardi Gras Party with special guest American Idol Melissa Meghee at the home of CEO J. Michael Pinson. The proceeds benefited The Spring of Tampa Bay which offers emergency shelter services for battered women and children.
In mid 2006 we opened the Pinson Foundation College Fund to assist students who major in business, marketing, public relations or management.
With your support, we can expand our managed donation program.
Our annual goal is to support local charities and provide grants in all of the following areas within Tampa Bay;
- Non-Profit Charities relative to women and children's needs
- Programs for High Risk Children
- Food & Shelter for the Needy
- College Grants
- Hurricane Disaster Relief
- Public School Needs
- Cancer and other medical research
- Gulf War Veterans Family Support
